Dr. Raymond Altieri

 passed away in Baltimore, MD on August 8, 2024 at the age of 74. Raymond, was born in Providence, RI, and resided in Baltimore, Maryland since 1979. Raymond, was a dedicated physician in Baltimore County, MD since 1984. 

 

Raymond was the beloved son of the late Anna (Catalfamo) Altieri and William Altieri. He is survived by his sister Donna Steinberg, brother Stephen Altieri and sister-in-law Melissa Altieri, niece Rachelle Steinberg, nephew Jared Steinberg and niece-in-law Grace Thorndal Steinberg and their children, great-nephew Marco Steinberg and great-niece Noelle Steinberg. 

 

 Raymond’s educational journey began at Cranston High School West, where he graduated with honors in 1968. He continued his studies at St. Michael’s College, graduating magna cum laude in 1972. Raymond then earned his medical degree cum laude from the University of Rome, Italy, in 1977. He completed his internship and residency at Sinai and Johns Hopkins Hospitals from 1978 to 1981. Raymond’s medical career was marked by his commitment to medicine and public health. He served as the former Chief of Medicine for the City of Baltimore, the USPS/Department of Labor in Baltimore, and AIDS Action Baltimore. His contributions to the community and his patients were profound. 

Raymond cherished his childhood summers spent at the ocean with his grandparents, Domenica Altieri and Natale & Mary Catalfamo, on Greenbriar Road. As an adult, he enjoyed time in Annapolis, MD, musical theatre, and antique telephones. His legacy of compassion and dedication to his patients and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
