DR. MARCO COLAGIOVANNI

94, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Luisa R. (Polichetti) Colagiovanni and the late Shirley C. (Dunn) Colagiovanni. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Rosina (Ricci) Colagiovanni. Dr. Colagiovanni was a WW II veteran serving in the US Army. He was a graduate of Rhode Island State College (URI) with a B.S. in pre-medicine, Class of 1938, where he earned Senior Scholastic Honors. He continued at Tufts Medical School to earn his degree as a Medical Doctor in 1942, and served his internship at St. Joseph's Hospital, Providence. From 1944 to 1991, Dr. Colagiovanni served as a Medical Consultant to the RI Board of Review. In 2006, The Colagiovanni Pavilion for Urologic Care at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital was named in his honor. Dr. Colagiovanni was a family practice physician for over fifty years before retiring in 1991 at the age of eight-five. He was a founding member and Past President of the Alpine Country Club. In addition, Dr. Colagiovanni was a former member of Metacomet Country Club and the Italo-American Club. He was an avid golfer and at one time held a nine handicap.

He is survived by his loving children, Robert V. Colagiovanni and his wife Sharon of Cranston, Marcia M. Colagiovanni of Dedham, MA, and Dr. Steven Colagiovanni and his wife Gina of Coventry. Dr. Colagiovanni was the loving grandfather of Marc Colagiovanni and his wife Lauren, and Alycia Concannon and her husband Brendan, and the great-grandfather of Addison Grace Colagiovanni and Bennett Edward Concannon.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in The Church of St. Mark, Garden City, Cranston. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Monday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 200 High Service Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904.
