Douglas E. Scolardi, 79, of Cranston passed away peacefully Sunday February 6, 2022. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Julia (Guercia) Scolardi.
He was known as a caring, generous, free-spirited and hard working man which he instilled in all his children. Doug never missed an opportunity to tell a good joke or cook a great meal. If he wasn’t in the kitchen, he could be found basking in the sun enjoying a fine cigar. Doug was the Chief of monitoring and evaluating for The Rhode Island Department of Transportation. He also served in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Era.
He leaves his beloved children Lisa Scolardi, Paul Scolardi, Lauren Scolardi, and Shannon Scolardi. He was the cherished grandfather of Anthony Gasbarro, Madeline Scolardi, Annelise Scolardi, and Alexa Atamian. He was the devoted brother and uncle of Norma M. DeFusco-Scolardi and David DeFusco. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Scolardi.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday February 16, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston everyone is asked to meet outside the gates at 10:45 AM. VISITING HOURS will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm. All guests are requested to wear masks in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
