88, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at RI Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Romulus “Ray” DeLuca for 50 years. Born in Detroit, MI, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Irene M. (Rayno) Sowa. Dorothy was a school bus driver for the City of Cranston for 20 years until her retirement. She was a Union Secretary and Union President serving two terms. Dorothy was a resident of Cranston for 60 years. She enjoyed spending time at her beach house with her family and friends. Dorothy was known to have a contagious smile, lighting up any room she walked into.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Raymond C. DeLuca and his wife Kathie of Cranston, Lori-Ann Bilodeau and her husband Craig of Cranston and Jerilyn A. DeLuca-Hawk of Cumberland. She was also the mother of the late Patricia Stevens. She was the cherished grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother of three. She was the sister of the late Mary Costello, Edward W. Sowa and Irene Sowa.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Friday Morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman Avenue, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
