Doris “DeDe” H. DeSimone, 93, of Cranston passed away on Friday August 25,2023, with her family by her side. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Stella (Stacia) Silvestri. She was the beloved wife of Matteo DeSimone.
DeDe was employed for Benny’s for over 40 years, she held several different positions and was a true jack of all trades. She led a very active lifestyle; she was an avid bowler using a 12lb bowling ball well into her 80s. With her husband by her side, they enjoyed dancing, traveling, and cruising. They always celebrated New Year’s Eve; it was a tradition that they continued until the recent pandemic. They were also known to get in the car and take a spontaneous road trip to Canada. She was known for her spunk, great sense of humor, and her infectious laugh. She made friends everywhere that she went, the bank, the grocery store, really any place she stepped foot. Her home was the host of all the Holiday’s, and every Sunday dinner. DeDe valued the time she spent with her family and her grandkids, she was always there for school pickups, and lending a helping hand. She loved music everything from Frank Sinatra to Tina Turner.
Besides her husband she is survived by her beloved children Debra Lamantia and her husband Michael, Barbara DeRita, Peter DeSimone and his wife Teresa, and Jean Hindle. She was the devoted grandmother of Michael Lamantia, Jr. and his wife Judy, Jason Lamantia and his wife Sara, Joseph DeRita, and his wife Yaredys, Anthony DeRita and his wife Amanda, Christina DeRita, Megan McKeen, Brian DeSimone, Michele Hindle and Christopher Hindle. She was the great grandmother Lilly, Bella, Jayden, Javian, Julian, Lincoln Matteo, and Riley Grace. She was the devoted sister of Carolyn Micielli, and her son Anthony Micielli. She was the beloved sister-in-law of Mary Lapati and her husband John, Ralph DeSimone and his wife Norma, John DeSimone and his wife Carol, and Janice DeSimone, along with several nieces and nephews.
