DENNIS A. NERI

61, of Allen Avenue, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Stella (Marzilli) Neri. Born in Providence, he was a son of Salvatore Neri of Cranston and the late Angelina (Raspallo) Neri. Dennis taught English at Western Hills Jr. High School from 1970-2000. He was elected President of the Cranston Teachers Alliance in June of 1979 and served in that capacity for 21 years. He was a member of the RI Federation of Teachers Executive Council from 1981 to 2000. From October of 2000 until his retirement in June of 2004, he was the Director, and then Executive Director of Personnel for the Cranston Public Schools. He was subsequently appointed as the Director of Recruitment for the New England Laborers/Cranston Public Schools Construction Career Academy, where he served until his death. He was a member of the East Natick Veterans Social Club and an avid golfer. He was first and foremost a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and loyal friend. Besides his wife and father he is survived by two sons: Dennis Neri of North Providence and David Neri of North Providence, one daughter: Talia Neri of North Providence, beloved Papa of Alyssa and Domenick. Brother of Salvatore Neri Jr. of Hope Valley, Elizabeth Moses of Cranston and the late Robert Neri Sr. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday 3-7pm.
