48, of Taylor Street, Cranston, passed away at home on Sunday November 25, 2012 surrounded by his family, in the home he shared with the love of his life and fiancAC.e, Linda Carpentier. With remarkable courage, dignity and grace, David faced his terminal cancer and leaves behind a story to inspire and strengthen others.
He was a graduate of Cranston HS West and the Fashion and Design Institute in California.
He formerly lived in Punta Gorda, FL.
He was a talented and inspirational writer, publishing a book entitled, Defying Goliath in 2010, telling his formula for and story of survival from two childhood bouts with cancer.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed antique hunting and was an exceptional gourmet cook and he loved creating new recipes and dishes for his family and friends.
He will be remembered for his strength and courage and the way he could light up a room with his warm smile and wonderful sense of humor. He deeply loved his fiancAC.e, Linda and their time together on the soft-white beaches and the beautiful sunsets of Siesta Key, Florida.
Born in Astoria, New York, David was the devoted son of Antoinette M. (Comella) Truman and her husband, George of Cranston. He was the son of the late David M. Como.
In addition to his fiancAC.e, David is survived by his brothers, Louis S. Como of West Warwick and Thomas N. Como and his wife Rebecca of East Lyme, CT; his stepbrother, George H. Truman, III and his wife Barbara, of Enid, OK and his stepsister, Erin K. Truman of North Kingstown, aunts, uncles and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in The Church of St. Mark, Garden City, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
Burial will be private.
