David Hugh Clark

87, of Narragansett an engineering Tec 111 for the Department of Transportation materials section, retiring in 2000 passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022.  He was the beloved husband of Claire (Wright) Clark for sixty-three years.

Born in Providence, the son of the late David and Margaret Clark, he had lived in Kearney, NJ before moving back to RI in 1957.  He lived in North Scituate prior to Narragansett.

Mr. Clark was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War and held the rank of 3rd Class Metalsmith.  He also received the Good Conduct Medal, the United Nations Ribbon and the South East Asian Ribbon.

Mr. Clark was past sales manager of the Corp. Brothers Welding Supply Firm and was past secretary of the American Welding Society, Providence Chapter.  He was also a past member of the Scituate Rotary and past secretary of the Apple Valley Amateur Radio Club.  He held a general class amateur radio license and operated a radio and television station under the call sign of KA1BGG.  He was a member of the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League).  Mr. Clark was also an avid collector of glass and coins.  A 32nd degree Mason, Mr. Clark belonged to Harmony Lodge #9, F&AM Lodge and the Palestine Shrine.

Besides his wife, he leaves his daughter, Laurie Connors and her husband Jason of Warwick, granddaughter, Alexis Clark of San Antonio, TX; and his brother and sister–in-law, Thomas and Jean Wright.  He was the father of the late Douglas Clark.

He will be remembered for his love of sports, his sense of humor and big smile.

His services will be privately held with Military Honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
