of Providence, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was our true warrior. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Williamson) Pope for 48 years.
Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Kenton Sr. and Geneva (Roode) Pope. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his daughter Michelle of Massachusetts, brothers Kenton Jr. of California, Craig of Charlestown, Kevin of Minnesota and sisters Kimberly and Kyleen of Westerly as well as their spouses (the outlaws). He also leaves his much loved grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
Darryl’s personality was larger than life. He was an accomplished bass player for 25 years and had the respect and admiration of the musical community. For the next 25 years he ran an elderly property for the Pawtucket Housing Authority. His talents were many. Whatever job he undertook, he gave it all he had. He had a kindness and sense of humor second to none.
Darryl was an avid fisherman, motorcycle (Triumph) enthusiast, he loved his football pool, Keno and the camaraderie with his friends at the pub. He was also an exceptional cook, famous for his home fries. His presence always filled a room and he was very easily loved. He was the life of the party with a quick wit and an easy smile.
Go to God my dear, you are finally out of pain and at peace.
Celebration of life gathering to be held at a later date.
