Daniel G. Comella , Sr.

84, passed away on December 6, 2020. He was a resident of Cranston for many years. He was the beloved husband of Joan A. (Iannuccilli) Comella . They shared a loving, inseparable 58 years of marriage together. Dan is survived by his wife Joan. He was the devoted father of Daniel Comella, Jr., Lisa D’Amico and father-in-law of Richard D’Amico. Daniel was the cherished grandfather “Papa” by his three grandchildren, Brittany, Richard Jr. and Jarred D’Amico. He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Augustino Comella , brother of Col. Augustino Comella Jr. ,  Marcia Nerney and her husband Ray, brother-in-law Lawrence Iannuccilli and wife Donna.

Dan served in the US Army in Fort Jackson, South Carolina . He transferred to RI Air National Guard and served as a combat flight engineer the 143rd Tactical  Air Lift Squadron. Dan was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.

In previous years, he was the owner of City Bld. Co., a Staff Manager for John Hancock Insurance and before retiring was the owner of Beacon Insurance Agency in Cranston.

Dan was an avid boater that spent every summer with his family in Newport and his favorite place, Martha’s Vineyard. He also loved to cook for his family especially his homemade raviolis and pasta.  He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his wife traveling in their Motor Home. His favorite pastime was any activity with his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 am in Holy Apostles Church in Cranston followed by a private burial with Military Honors at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: www.wounded warriorproject.org.
