DANIEL W. "RED" (RET. CAPT. P.P.D.) BARCLAY, JR

89, of Ocean Rd., Narragansett, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011. He was the beloved husband for 64 years of Esther J. "Paula" (Giammatteo) Barclay. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Mary (Mahan) Barclay. Mr. Barclay retired as a Captain from the City of Providence Police Department where he proudly served for 35 years, and was a WW-II U.S. Navy veteran. Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Dorothy P. Augenstein and her husband Helmut of Warwick, Daniel W. Barclay, III and his wife Gail of Riverside, CA, Linda M. Hochwarter and her husband Paul of Narragansett, William J. Barclay and his wife Deborah of West Warwick and Joan E. Jackson and her husband Kevin of South Kingstown; loving grandfather of eleven; loving great-grandfather of two; and dear uncle of Millie A. Lombardo of West Warwick. Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt.1A), Narragansett on Monday at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.
