75, of Namquid Drive, Warwick, died on Sunday June 29, 2008 at home. Born in Mount Airy, Maryland, he was the son of the late Columbus and Margaret (Costin) Grimes. Mr. Grimes established Costin's Warwick Academy of Beauty Culture in 1967 and the Creative Hair Salons in Warwick and Wakefield. He was also the previous owner of the R.I. Beauty Academy of Providence. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. While serving in the Navy, Costin fought to become the U.S. Navy Boxing Heavyweight Champion. Costin was a dedicated Providence College Friar fan, a Golden Friar and a major contributor to the Alumni Association. He was a member of the Alpine Country Club, Cranston. He was the former husband of Carmela (Gallucci) Grimes of West Warwick. Father of Thomas Grimes and his wife Kathy of West Warwick, Robyn Hornstein and her husband Lt. Colonel Richard Hornstein of Ft. Monmouth, NJ, Paula Duhamel and her husband Peter of South Kingstown, Grandfather of Tyler and Jordan Grimes; Ashley, Alyssa and Anne Grace Hornstein; Miles and Abigale Duhamel. Brother of Cameron Grimes of PA, Harry Thomas of NC and the late Hope Luger.
