Col. Peter E. DiBiase Sr., Ret. RISM
76, of Cranston passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Cedar Crest Nursing Center, Cranston. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria (DeLeone) DiBiase
Peter was born in Cranston, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Iannotti) DiBiase. Mr. DiBiase retired in 1997 after more than 30 years of state service. He commenced state service as a correctional officer and later worked at the office of the RI State Marshall, where he rose to the highest position, the rank of Colonel. Prior to state service, Mr. DiBiase was a laborer at Park Avenue Cement Block Company.
Peter received a commendation from the Governor for having been injured while assisting other Marshalls in foiling an escape from the Providence County Courthouse in 1975. He also played professional minor league baseball in the 1950's with the Cleveland Indians organization. Peter also coached American Legion Baseball for 15 years with Auburn Post of Cranston, and was an avid NY Yankee fan.
He is survived by his loving sons, Peter E. DiBiase II and Frank J. DiBiase and his wife Bernadette all of Cranston., and was the loving father of the late Rebecca DiBiase. Peter was the proud and loving Papa of Marissa Rebecca DiBiase, and brother of Joseph DiBiase of Cranston and Retired Det. Lt. Vincent DiBiase , CPD of Cranston and Retired Det. Anthony DiBiase, CPD of FL.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave. Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to a charity of your choice, in loving memory of Peter E. DiBiase, Sr.
