92, formerly of Warwick, passed away after her battle with dementia, and finally, COVID-19, on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at the Scalabrini Villa Nursing Home. Claire was born in Providence, RI on November 15, 1927, the daughter of the late Joseph Thibeault and Elsie Thibeault (Ouimette), and the sister of the late Rita Gareau (Sullivan). Claire was the loving wife of the late Edward Supancic, a US Naval Academy graduate and aviator, from Export, PA, and devoted mother of twins Edward Jr. and John, and youngest son Carl, who were all born in Kingsville, Texas where Ed was stationed.
Following Ed’s tragic active duty death in 1955 in Kingsville, and with the enormous assistance from her and Ed’s family, Claire returned to RI with her infant sons, where they stayed with family in Cranston, RI before settling in Providence, where her 3 sons were raised and flourished. Claire eventually moved to her cherished home and views in the Potowomut area in Warwick in 1987, before eventually entering assisted living in 2018.
In addition to her 3 sons, Claire is survived by Ed’s wife Donna (Signore), their children Lisa (Rariden), and Edward III, Carl’s wife Sandee (Hemenway), their daughter Sara (Blamey), and great grandchildren Caroline and Hudson Rariden, as well as Cameron and Lillian Blamey. Claire was also the loving grandmother of Ed and Donna’s predeceased daughter Elizabeth, and aunt of Ronald Gareau and predeceased Kenneth Gareau.
Due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claire’s name to the Alzheimer's Association ( https://act.alz.org/ ) or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) ( https://secure.aspca.org/donate )
