born on March 6, 1925, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at the age of 100. Known affectionately as "Nana" to all who knew and loved her, Claire was a vibrant matriarch whose warm spirit and unwavering support for her family left a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Claire enjoyed a fulfilling career with MetLife, where she dedicated many years of her professional life before retiring as a medical coder. Her determination and work ethic were testaments to her character, qualities that aligned closely with her devotion to family. In her later years, Claire retired to Jupiter, Florida—a transition that brought new adventures while maintaining her characteristic charm. Even amidst the sun-soaked beaches and vibrant community life of Florida, she remained steadfastly connected to her roots in Cranston where she raised her family and lived for 70 years.
Family was the cornerstone of Claire's life. Her passion for her loved ones was evident in every interaction, from cheering her grandchildren and great grandchildren on at their sporting events to sharing delightful lunches, where laughter and stories flowed freely. She found joy in playing cards and engaging in brain games, with favorites like Scrabble and Rummikub, as well as answering challenging questions on Jeopardy.
Claire is survived by her beloved daughter, Elaine Moretti DeSimone and her late husband, Michael. She also leaves behind her loving son, John D. Moretti, Jr. (Ret. CPD) and his wife, Shirley, along with her cherished granddaughters Christina Perlov and her husband Pavel, Claire O'Connor and her husband Matt, Johnna Frederickson, Gina Lynch, and grandson, Mark Silvestri, ten great-grandchildren, and many adored nieces and nephews carry her legacy forward. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, John D. Moretti; her parents, Henry and Eva (Cartier) Papineau; and her sisters, Olive Moriarty and Pauline Koch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her VISITATION Monday, March 31, 2025 from 10-11AM followed by her funeral service at 11am in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.
