72, of School St. Johnston died suddenly Wednesday December 12, 2007. He was the loving husband of Patricia "Patsy" (Donahue) Mariano. They had been married for 53 years. A Johnston resident he was the son of the late Ralph and Josephine (Defusco) Mariano. He was the devoted father to Kathleen Mariano Fleenor and her husband Warren H. Fleenor and Cheryl Ann Goneconte and her husband Carmine J. Goneconte both of Johnston, beloved "Papa" to Carmine Charles and Jessica Leigh Goneconte, brother of Ralph "Smitty" Mariano Jr. of North Providence and the late Dorothy Nardolillo and Francis Mariano and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Charles spent his life in the construction business particularly as a stone mason and bricklayer beginning with Ralph Mariano & Sons. Also, he was a project manager for several construction companies. Most recently he worked part time as an inspector for the Johnston Housing Authority. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Charlie was a history buff and enjoyed playing cards and lottery tickets. Most of all he preferred to be with his loving family. His funeral will be held on Monday at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco's Church, Johnston at 10am.
