CHARLES T. BURKE, SR

82, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of sixty years to Marlene A. (Haughey) Burke. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Anna (Kohl) Burke. Charles was a Teamster Truck Driver from 1947-1978, and then was elected business agent for Local #251 from 1978-1993. He served as a Trustee for the Health and Welfare Committee, and upon retirement served as a Trustee for the Teamsters Retirees. Charles attended Providence College and Bryant College. He was a US Army Sergeant 1st Class serving during the Korean War. Charles enjoyed golfing.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Charles T. Burke, Jr. and his wife Janice of Cumberland, Kimberly A. LaRochelle and her husband Gilbert of St. Albans, ME, and the late Kerry E. Laston. He was the cherished grandfather of Bethany L. Hall. Lauren E. Burke, Joshua N. Casey. Kristen M. Burke, and the great-grandfather of Cierra L. Holmes, and Alyssa L. Hall. Charles was the brother of Patricia Bennett of Navarre, FL, Frances Halperin of Haynes City, FL and the late Joseph, Robert, William, and Edward Burke, Dorothy Dion, and Mary Cobb.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Cathedral Square, Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Tuesday 4-8 p.m.
