CHARLES AKALARIAN

CHARLES AKALARIAN, 85, of Brookwood Rd., Cranston, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at home. He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Melina M. (Tateosian) Akalarian. Born in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hagop and Mariam (Nuvarkian) Akalarian.

Mr. Akalarian was the owner of the former Handler's Market on Warwick Ave. in Cranston, and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1990.

He was a U.S. Navy Seabee Veteran of WW-II serving with the 99th, 100th and 129th Naval Construction Battalions.

Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Rena Anthony and her husband Michael of Warwick and Carla Akalarian of Pawtucket; and loving grandfather of Madeleine and David.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, followed by interment with Military Honors at RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
