Carol Kendall Roberts Thornton, beloved wife of the late Henry (Hank) Thornton, passed away at the age of 91 on Monday, January 14, 2019 at her home in Barrington. The daughter of Myra (Kendall) and Roy L. Roberts, Sr., Carol was raised on Narragansett Terrace in Riverside in a family of four brothers and sisters: Kenneth Roberts (Irene) presently of Bristol, the late Shirley R. Barbour (Bill), the late Roy L. Roberts, Jr., and the late Marilyn R. Moller (Ted).
Carol is survived by her three loving daughters: Leslee Thornton of Charlestown, Shelly Andreozzi of Barrington, and Lynn Thornton of Burrillville. She was predeceased by her son Mark in 2000. She leaves her three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from East Providence High School and attending RI State College, Carol and her husband Hank made their home in Barrington. She was an avid jazz fan and enjoyed local music venues as well as the friendship of musicians. Her travels over a lifetime took her to exotic and storied parts of the world. An advocate for social justice, Carol went on mission trips with the Barrington United Methodist Church and also volunteered for many years for peace and justice organizations.
Funeral arrangements are at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave. in Cranston on Wednesday, January 23rd. Calling will be held from 5 to 7 followed by a funeral service at 7.
