BENJAMIN C. HOVEY, died suddenly at his home in Narragansett, RI on August 6, 2008, just ten days prior to his 65th birthday. Mr. Hovey has previously resided in Boston, Denver. Mr. Hovey had been a travel agent, stockbroker, author and sportsman. He was an accomplished salt water fly fisherman. He briefly held a world record having caught the largest Pacific Ocean sailfish on a fly rod. He fished in Guatemala, Belize, Alaska, Canada, Bahamas and numerous U.S. locales seeking wily trout, salmon, sailfish, tuna, permit, bone fish and more. But, his favorite was the pursuit of the Striped Bass off the rocks of his beloved Whale Rock Point. He attended the Dexter School in Brookline, MA, graduated from the Fay School, Tabor Academy and Hobart College. He was the son of the late Anita and Charles F. Hovey of Chestnut Hill, MA. He leaves his brother, Charles F. Hovey, Jr. of Manchester, MA and his sister, Elizabeth C. Isdale of Greenwich, CT and Narragansett, RI. He leaves two nephews, Greig M. Isdale of Stamford CT and Elliot M. Hovey of Alameda, CA and two nieces, Elizabeth I. Cochran of East Greenwich, RI and Averill S. Hovey of Denver, CO. He also had three great nephews.
