84, of Warwick died peacefully Wednesday, January 18 at the Brentwood Nursing Home. A retired financial executive, he was the beloved husband of Elisabeth Jaegle Sabatini, joyfully and happily married for thirty-four years; he was previously the beloved husband of the late Lily Rose (Bucci) Sabatini. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Benedetto "Benny" Sabatini and the late Antonetta "Etta" (Zanni) Sabatini, and lived in Rhode Island his entire life, occasionally spending winters in the Bradenton and Naples, Florida areas. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines Islands, in the Leyte Gulf theatre of operations in 1945. He also served in the naval reserve for several years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy and Finance from Bryant College in 1948, and received a War Diploma from La Salle Academy in 1945. At Bryant, he was a member of the Phi Sigma Nu fraternity and played basketball for the intramural championship team. He was the financial vice president of the Atlas Chain Company for 15 years and previously held several managerial positions while employed for 25 years with the Grinnell Corporation, later the ITT Corporation. He was honored as a Man of the Year by the Holy Name Society of the Sacred Heart Church of West Warwick, and volunteered for many years to help establish the Monsignor De Angelis Manors in West Warwick. He also served as an extraordinary minister for Sacred Heart Church for several years. He was an ardent reader of books, magazines and newspapers and thoroughly enjoyed television news and special programs including sports attractions and the Nature series. A geography buff, he poured over maps and other geographic information. In addition to his beloved wife, Elisabeth Jaegle Sabatini, he is survived by his beloved children, including Ben V. Sabatini, Jr., of Natick, MA, Karen G. Sabatini of Marina del Rey, CA, Susan J. Sabatini of Charlotte, NC, Diane L. Sabatini of Santa Monica, CA, and step-son Stephen H. Jaegle of West Warwick. He was loving father of the late Roseanne Sabatini. He also leaves a sister, Terry M. Wassel of New Jersey, and was a brother of the late Peter M. Sabatini of Massachusetts and the late Vincent G. Sabatini of Warwick. He is survived by various brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Stelz family and many other nieces and nephews of the Sabatini, Zanni and the Stelz family. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence, St., West Warwick at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. VISITING HOURS are Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the alumni associations of Bryant University or La Salle Academy, to Sacred Heart Church of West Warwick, or to other alumni organizations.
