Benedetta (Varone) Aceto

87, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Lorenzo Aceto. Born in Esperia Frosinone, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Perrotta) Varone. Benedetta grew up in Italy during WWII; Later in life she immigrated to America with her husband and son. After settling in America, she started to sponsor her family members in Italy. Benedetta loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, and making cookies where she was known as the “Italian Cookie Queen”. Benedetta was a stroke survivor which didn’t stop her from loving life and her family.

Benedetta is survived by her loving children, Mario Aceto and his wife Mary of Cranston, Pat Messore and her husband Eugenio, Maria Anthony and her husband Joseph of Cranston, Nancy Souza and her husband Peter of Warwick, Elena Meresi and her husband Michael of Cranston, and the late Ergolo Luca Aceto. She was the cherished grandmother of Mario Marco, Scott Aceto, Angela Dziok, Gina Palano, Maria Jones, Maria Aceto, Lorenzo Aceto, Elisabetta Aceto-Kun, Donato Aceto, Luca Aceto, Adriana and Kristina Anthony, Alexandria Souza, and Michael Meresi. She was the sister of Giovanna Paliotta of Johnston, Alberto Varone of Esperia, Italy, the late Giuseppina Terilli, and Pasqualino Varone.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 18th, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: TUESDAY May 17th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
