BASIL A. GEMMA
85, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Basilio and Filomena (Monti) Gemma. Mr. Gemma was a horse trainer for various racetracks in New England for forty years before his retirement.
He was the brother of Anna M. Laurelli, Josephine C. Ruggieri, both of Cranston, Rose Marie Martin of Warwick and the late Peter and Gregory Gemma.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
