Barbara Mary (Walsh) Salvati

April 30, 1929 — October 13, 2018

Barbara Mary (Walsh) Salvati

89, passed unexpectedly at home on October 13, 2018.  She was the eldest child of Mortimer H. Walsh and Patricia (Jimmis) Harpin.  She grew up in Cranston and graduated from Cranston High School East where she met the love of her life, Lou Salvati.  The high school sweethearts were married at St. Ann’s Church, Cranston on May 14, 1949.

Barbara loved to ice skate and once dreamed of joining the Ice Capades.  But, instead, she turned her love and talents to being the most loving, caring wife and mother.  Raising her four children was an adventure.  She kept her cool even when we ran through the house with buckets of water being chased by our Dad, who ran into the house with a garden hose.  In later years she helped out by taking care of her grandchildren.  Her family was everything to her.  She will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her sister Julia Bickford and brother Mortimer Walsh Jr.; her four children, Louis Salvati, Linda Monahan and Karen Salvati of Cranston and Kathleen Maurice of Jamestown; her grandchildren Tara Lynch and Peter Quackenbush, Ashley and Samantha Salvati; her four great grandchildren Aidan and Kailynn Lynch and Zaan and Sylvia Quackenbush.  She is also survived by her beloved dogs.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Animals Depend on People To (A.D.O.P.T.), 999 Pippin Orchard Rd., Cranston, RI 02921.
