Barbara H. (Boudreau), McCarthy, RN, 75, of Wakefield and Naples, FL, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at South County Hospital in Wakefield. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. McCarthy.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late August and Helen (Murphy) Boudreau.
Barbara was a nursing instructor at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, before retiring in 1992. A 1951 graduate of Classical High School in Providence and a 1954 graduate of RI Hospital School of Nursing, she received her B.S. in Nursing from RI College in 1975 and her Masters in Education in 1978 from Providence College. She was a member of RI Hospital Nurses Guild.
She was the devoted mother of Robert W. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Sally of Johnson, VT, James E. McCarthy and his wife Susan DeMaio of Manhattan, NY, Maureen M. Fletcher and her husband Christopher of Dartmouth, MA and Patricia E. Friedrich and her husband Stephen of Wakefield, RI; and loving grandmother of Katelyn, Kevin, Brian, Amy, Steven, Thomas, Connor and Catherine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
VISITING HOURS WEDNESDAY 4-8 p.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd., (Rt.1A) Narragansett.
