AVEDIS "AVI" MAHDESIAN

AVEDIS "AVI" MAHDESIAN

84, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Nevart "Rose" (Alexanian) Mahdesian. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harry and Yeghsig Mahdesian.

Mr. Mahdesian was an accountant and worked for Wilson & Company in Providence and later at Greylawn Foods in Cranston before retiring. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was an active member at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher; a member of the Armenian Masonic Degree Team; and a past member of Armenian Youth Federation of America.

Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Gregory A. Mahdesian of Cranston, Dianne E. Balasco and her husband Lenny of Providence, Tanya M. Mahdesian and her husband Jeff Simmons of Greenville and Paul A. Mahdesian and his wife Kimberly of Warren; loving grandfather of Marc, David, Avedis, Naomi and Sarah; and dear brother of Marion Chakoian of Lincoln.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at North Burial Ground Cemetery in Providence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church or A.Y.F., 402 Broadway Providence, RI 02909.
