Atenedoro C. "Dody" Diaz

Atenedoro C. "Dody" Diaz, 96, of North Kingstown passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in the Philippines, he was a son of the late Tomas and Catalina (Cortez) Diaz.

Serving over twenty years in the US Navy, during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He then retired after working 20 years for the State of RI.

Dody loved to dance and enjoyed teaching others as a dance instructor.  He was a life long learner and an avid reader. He also enjoyed camping in the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont. He was a spiritual person who enjoyed studying other religions and philosophies.

He leaves his five children, Lorraine Yanku (Bob) of North Kingstown, Catalina Lupo (the late Patrick Lupo) of Narragansett, Thomas Diaz of Wakefield, Valerie Pabst-Barnes (Bruce) of Gerrardstown, WV and Susan Mills of North Providence; Elaine Petit his longtime companion of Johnston; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He is predeceased by six siblings.

His Committal service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 1pm in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 12:45pm in the administrative parking lot.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
