formerly of Warwick, RI, passed away on January 18, 2021 at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA.
Armen was born in Providence, RI on November 27, 1927 to Sahag and Victoria Palian. He was married to the love of his life, Ethel (Fountain) Palian for 54 years.
An extremely active and generous man, Armen loved his family and friends and enjoyed life. He was proudly independent and adventurous moving across country in time to celebrate his 92nd and 93rd birthdays in his new Washington home. Shooting was a lifelong hobby. He was well known on the pistol range and a crack shot winning many competitions.
A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years then retired once more from the state of Rhode Island after a second career. He was a Mason for over 60 years and served as a past master.
Armen was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel in 2012 and his sister, Susie Selverian in 1993. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Gowenlock (David); granddaughters, Caitlin (Malik) and Erin; brothers, Charlie (Marie), Dick (Madeline) and Michael (Satig) as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, (seating will be limited, social distancing and masks required). Burial with military honors at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will be private.
