ARMANDO P. BOFFA

92, of Hingham, MA and formerly of Cranston passed away on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at South Shore Hospital, Weymouth, MA. He was the husband of Edwina K. (Kappes) Boffa and the late Florence J. (Neveroski) Boffa. He was born in Providence a son of the late Arturo and Elvira (Spaziano) Boffa and he had resided in Hingham for the past 15 months. He graduated from Classical High School as an honor student and attended State College of Rhode Island, presented U.R.I., majoring in Electrical Engineering. He left college after completing 3 years to serve his country during WW II as an Army Air Force Veteran. He served through the entire war as a Navigator/Bombardier flying on B-29 bombers in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He flew numerous missions over Japan and was awarded various individual and unit citations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. He was an advertising salesman employed by New England Telephone Co. for more than 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was a former communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and had been active, in his earlier years, in various church-related functions, including the Knights of Columbus, the Peloquin Chorale and the Catholic Family Conference.

Beside his wife he is survived by his children, John R. Boffa of Dallas, GA, Thomas P. Boffa of Attleboro, MA, Joan ( Boffa ) Dentone of Boulder Creek, CA and Robert A. Boffa of Boulder Creek, CA. He was the father of the late Arthur P. and Frank A. Boffa. He was the grandfather of 2 and is also survived by 3 step-children, 6 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. He was the brother of William Boffa of No. Providence, Raymond Boffa of Swampscott, MA and the late Emilio Boffa. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church at 10am VISITING HOURS Friday 5-8pm. Burial, with military honors, will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr., Cranston, RI 02920.
