ANTONIO PICANO

87, of Cranston passed away Tuesday May 24, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Born in Cranston he was the son of the late Pasquale and Francesca (Maggiacomo) Picano. He was a graduate of Bryant College and was an accountant at Regan Steel, Inc. and the State of Rhode Island Central Services. Mr. Picano was the deputy city treasurer of the City of Cranston from 1955-1957 and a state senator representing western Cranston District 14 from 1967-1974. He was a US Army veteran of WW-11 and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Tabor Franchi Post #2396, the Auburn Post #20 American Legion and the Rhode Island former legislators association.

He is survived by his sister Mary Hasty and her husband John of Cranston, a brother- in-law Nicholas Humlak of Marco Island, Florida, a sister- in-law Jennie Picano of Cranston and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frances Ann Humlak and Pasco Picano, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church 1525 Cranston St. Cranston Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted.
