91, of Highland Beach, FL, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, West Palm Beach, FL. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Thomas and Christina (Cardogna) Meschino. Ben was an Independent Grocer and the former owner of Food Town Grocery in Cranston for twenty-five years until 1975. He was the owner of Mystery Farm, Cranston. Ben was a former member of the Alpine Country Club and City Hall A.C. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WW II.
He is survived by his loving daughter Christine M. Meschino of Cranston. Ben was the cherished grandfather of Kelsey L. Mooney of Cranston. He was the brother of Gilda Meschino of Providence, Luciano "Jack" Meschino of Cresco, PA, John Meschino of Hull, MA, and the late Salvatore "Stutz", Pasquale "Pat", George, Luigi, Thomas, and Mary Meschino.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Interment with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center Hospice, 7305 Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33410.
