Antimo D’Agostino

94, of Johnston, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 surrounded by his wife and loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie (Porreca) D’Agostino for the past 67 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Andrea and Giuseppina (Lancellotti) D’Agostino. Antimo was a truck driver for Plymouth Rock Transportation for over 30 years until his retirement. He was also a WWII (European and South Pacific theaters) Navy Veteran, where he served from 1944-1954 as a Fireman First Class Engineer. Recognizing his outstanding skills, he was inducted as an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Antimo was also a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Bartholomew’s Church and the Teamsters Union Local 251.

Antimo loved baking, coin collecting, and traveling, but his most treasured joy was his endless devotion to his wife and family. You could always find Antimo with his grandchildren supporting every endeavor. Whether school activities, fishing, karate, art shows, music, baseball, or hockey. He also truly believed all children deserved a great life and supported St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for countless years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters: Deborah Gardiner and her husband Edgar of Cranston, Andrea Demers and her husband James of Cranston, his dear brother: Andrea “Sonny” D’Agostino of Johnston, his cherished grandchildren: Domonique, Royce, Garrett, Dylan, and Ryan. He was also the brother of the late Etta Zannini, Ella Oliver, Emily Calvitto, Frances DiBenedetto, Anna Perfetto, Joseph D’Agostino and Maria Facenda.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 am in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Providence. Burial will be private, and visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
