Anthony Spremulli

95, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Anthony was the beloved husband of Mary (DelBonis) Spremulli, his wife of 72 years.  He was born in Newport, RI, a son of the late Vincent and Antonetta (Sardella) Spremulli. Anthony is also survived by his loving children, Anthony Spremulli and wife, Joyce, Paula Verdolotti and husband, Frank, and Greg Spremulli and former wife, Lori, all of Cranston. He was the grandfather of Christopher Spremulli, Michael Verdolotti and wife, Melissa, and Lucas Spremulli.  He was the brother of the late Salvatore and Philip Spremulli.

Anthony was also a decorated WWII veteran, having been awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star—the third highest decoration for valor in combat given by the United States Armed Forces—for his acts of gallantry in the Battle of the Bulge. He then owned and operated Tony’s Auto Top in Cranston where he was a fine upholstery craftsman for decades.  Mr. Spremulli was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.  Tony was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, who also enjoyed playing golf and watching old films. Most importantly, his greatest joy and accomplishments came from raising and spending quality time with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 A.M., in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
