ANTHONY 'TONY' MIGNONE SR

94, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Catherine "Kay" (Mazzarelli) Mignone for the past 67 years. He was born in West Orange, NJ a son of the late Ralph and Matilda (Palma) Mignone. Tony graduated from West Orange High School in West Orange New Jersey. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business at Bryant College

Smithfield, RI. A veteran of WWII, Tony engaged in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge receiving an EAMET Campaign Medal and five bronze service stars.Tony taught business subjects at Tolman High School for 35 years, and was also adviser of the Redjacket Yearbook. Among his hobbies he enjoyed quahogging, fishing, vegetable gardening and carpentry. Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Anthony R. Mignone Jr. and his wife Shelley of Caribou, ME and his granddaughter Jaclyn Mignone of Saunderstown, RI. He was the brother of Linda Torlucci of Cherry Hill, NJ, Yolanda Peruso of West Orange, NJ, Etta Luciano of West Orange, NJ and Duffy Mignone of Scopswood, NJ.

He was the Godfather of Joan Shanley of Grafton. MA. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9am at the Nardolillo Funeral Home and Crematory, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road,( RT1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett at 10am. Burial, with military honors, will take place in R.I. Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Thursday 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the R.I Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI 02822.
