Anthony “Dick” D’Amore 88 of Cranston Rhode Island passed away on Saturday April 27, 2024 at Women and Brigham Hospital surrounded by his family. The son of the late Gennaro and Concetta (Totolo) D’Amore, and the loving husband of 64 years to Helen (Manzi) D’Amore. Anthony grew up in Providence, moving to Cranston where he resided with his wife for 57 years.
Anthony was a proud US Army Veteran. After leaving the military, Anthony became a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 1 for 43 years. Anthony’s craft can be seen in almost every building in Rhode Island. He was one of the last true craftsmen of his trade . When he retired as a craftsman he created one of a kind lighthouses to share with friends and family. “Dick” Anthony he was one of a kind. His loyalty to his family and friends was a true testament to who he was. Once you met “Dick”, he had a great impact on your life. His simple pleasures were just that “simple. Sitting at Meshanticut Lake enjoying his favorite cigar, planting in his backyard with his trusted dog Roscoe, with hopes of growing that perfect tomato.
Anthony, alongside his wife Helen, sister Joan, and brother-in-law Tony, owned the Countryside Restaurant on Phenix Ave in Cranston for over 45 years. Anthony was a former President of the St. Mary’s Feast Society, and a proud member of the Santa Maria Di Prata Society, both of Cranston.
Anthony was the loving father to Wendy M. D’Amore-Salter, Gina L. D’Amore-Brown and her husband George. He was a devoted grandfather to George J. Brown ll. and his wife Megan, and Elizabeth D. Salter. He was also the beloved uncle to Kathleen A. Maddern and her husband, Stephen, David Grande his wife Donna, Jane Mercurio her husband Joseph, Gail Aceto-Schlink, Karen Decesare her husband Richard, Kerri DePalmo-Loranger and her husband, Jeff and the late Stacey Lee DePalmo. Anthony also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Georgie J. Brown lll. and Lena J. Brown to whom he cherished. Anthony was predeceased by his two siblings, Joan F. Inglesi and John A. DePalmo.
Anthony “Dick”, did not want any formal services. Instead he wanted a celebration of his life which will be held later this year.. Donations in his memory can be made to the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street in Providence, RI 02903.
