Anthony R. "Papa Doc" Balasco 90, of Curry Road, Cranston, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the devoted husband of the late Teresa "Mama T" (Magnone) Balasco. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Vincent and Carmina (Conca) Balasco. Mr. Balasco was the proprietor of the former Sunny Market of Providence for many years until his retirement. He was a WW II veteran serving in the US Navy. Mr. Balasco was the kindest and most giving person and will be missed immensely. He is survived by his loving children, Judith M. Grelle, Janice E. Carr and Deborah A. Carosi and her husband Anthony "Tony" all of Cranston. Mr. Balasco was the cherished grandfather of Donna L. Gray, John A. Grelle, Robert E. Carr, Jr. Stephanie J. Carbone, Tony Carosi Jr. and Jason Carosi and the great-grandfather of seven. He was the brother of Vincent and Anthony J. Balasco both of Cranston, Raymond Balasco of Warwick, Nina Bragg of North Providence and the late Armand and Leo Balasco. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston Street, Cranston.
