88, of Mohawk Trail, Cranston passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 18, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Bruna (Chiavaroli) Ascenzi for 62 years.
Born in Providence, the son of the late Serafino and Guilia (Ventresca) Ascenzi, he lived in Providence for most of his life before moving to Cranston in 1999. Tony was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He worked for Browne & Sharpe and Rau Fasterner for many years before retiring in 1981.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Anthony D. Ascenzi of Burbank, California, Denise Arruda of Jupiter, Florida, and Lori Tocco of Cranston, RI. He was the proud grandfather of Jacqueline Ascenzi and his best buddy Jay Tocco.
Tony is also survived by his sister, Mary Ginolfi, and sisters-in-law Edith and Lillian Ascenzi and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Theresa, Joseph, Ida and Dante Ascenzi.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Holy Apostles Church, Pippin Orchard Rd. , Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston . VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4-8 pm.
