Ann M. (Macari) Tanzi

88, of Cranston, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at RI Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Rudolph A. Tanzi. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Zoglio) Macari.

She was the co-founder and owner of Professional Dictating Service of New England, the first out-of-hospital medical transcription service in the USA. She loved spending time with her family, and enjoying social events with her friends like playing cards, seeing shows and attending plays at the Newport playhouse. She was a former member of Cystic Fibrosis Association, Scalabrini Villa Guild, Daughters of Isabella and numerous other charities. At the Cranston Senior Center, she ran the Smile Doll Program for under privileged children, and she was a member of Notable Works, raising awareness for environmental and social concerns through the arts.

Ann is survived by her loving children, Anne G. Clesas (Gregory) of Warwick, and Dr. Rudolph E. Tanzi (Dora) of Milton, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Gregory R. Clesas (Meredith), Justin A. Clesas (Jenni), and Lyla M. Tanzi, and the great-grandmother of Alexander and Maya Clesas. Ann was the sister of the late John Macari (Anna) Joseph Macari (Mary).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 6th, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Providence. Her burial and visiting hours are respectfully private. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Massachusetts General Hospital Genetics and Aging Research Unit and to Boston Childrens Hospital.
