Angelo R. "Junior" Christina, Jr.

75, of Narragansett, died at home after a courageous battle with cancer on May 27, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Sharleen (McCooey) Christina for 50 years. He was born in Westerly, RI, son of the late Angelo & Eliza (Maine) Christina.

Angelo served in the Army National Guard. Beginning in the early 1970’s, he owned various local businesses, including popular restaurants and nightspots such as Schiller’s and Windsor’s. He was also a partner in Glenwood Associates, a building and development company known for projects throughout Rhode Island. Later in life, he concentrated on selling residential and commercial real estate.

Angelo enjoyed going on sport fishing trips, rooting for the Patriots and Red Sox, and driving by or sitting at the Narragansett seawall. Until his illness, he especially looked forward to Friday nights when he would spend time with his buddies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He was a loving father and adoring grandfather. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Mark, daughter Angela and her husband Matthew Taraborelli, grandchildren Jeffrey and Jaclyn, and another grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister Mary and his brother James. He was preceded in death by his siblings Edward, Mildred, Patricia, Diana, and Shirley.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 2 at 11:00am, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, in Narragansett. Burial will be private. Angelo’s family would like to thank Dr. Angela Taber, FNP Caroline Kinney, Oncology Pharmacist Donna Gorham, and Michelle, Susan, Claire, and Tonya – the nurses at the Cancer Center – who gave Angelo exceptional care throughout the course of his treatment.
