ANGELINA (LUCCA) GIARDINA

86, of Johnston, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Briarcliffe Manor Nursing Home, Johnston. She was the wife of the late Agostino "Gus" Giardina. Born in Bia Latina, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Agnes (Santore) Lucca. Mrs. Giardina was a seamstress for the former K-Sportswear of Warwick. Angelina was also employed by various companies, sewing shirts, dresses, draperies and sportswear before retiring in 1999. She is survived by her children, Christy Giardina and his wife Patricia of Johnston and Lydia Mattera of Cumberland. Angelina was the grandmother of Sheri and William Giardina and Andrew and Derrick Mattera and the great-grandmother of Brittany, Sophia and Luca. She was the sister of Mary Carbone of Johnston and Eda Barile of Providence and the late Angelo, Pasquale "Pat" and Frank Lucca. Angelina is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
