82 of Barnegat, NJ, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, surrounded by her family.
A devoted wife and mother, Anellina was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, William P. Cherella, Sr.
Ann and Bill raised their four children in Long Valley, NJ, and ultimately retired full time in Barnegat, NJ. Together they shared a love of family, food, theater, and traveling. Ann was an avid reader and found much joy moderating her book club and cherished those friendships. A family oriented woman, Ann took her greatest pride in the time and love she shared with her children and grandchildren.
Born in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Modesta (Mignanelli) Marzilli. Known for her intellect and curiosity, Ann graduated top of her class from the University of Rhode Island, earning a Bachelor Degree in Education in 1963. She taught history before raising her family.
She leaves four children, William P Cherella, Jr. and his wife Diane of Narragansett, RI, Dr. Michael J. Cherella of Medford, NJ, Leann M. Cherella of Springboro, OH, and Laura J. Rossman and her husband Dean of Bath NY; a brother, Dr. Luigi Marzilli of Houston, TX, a sister Jean Iacone of Johnston, RI, and nine grandchildren, Billy, Bobby, Brianna, Christian, Lauren, Caroline, Rachel, Alyssa, and Bella.
Her funeral will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at 9:30am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Thursday, March 14th, from 4pm – 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907.
