89, of East Greenwich, formerly of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Seasons Assisted Living in East Greenwich. She was the beloved wife of the late William M. Iannucci for 57 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Vittorio and Maria (Montecalvo) D’Alfonso. Amalia is predeceased by her loving granddaughter Danielle Richards and her siblings Joseph, Lawrence, Benedetto, Victor, Robert D’Alfonso, and Hortense Ruggiero.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane Richards and her husband Brian Richards, Susan Cesaro and her husband Dr. Thomas Cesaro, William Iannucci, and Paul Iannucci; 12 cherished grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Amalia dedicated her life to her faith and family. Her commitment to family traditions, and passing them along to her grandchildren, was a priority. “Grandma Cookies”, her many special Italian delicacies, and holiday gatherings were her passions. Amalia’s homemade tortellini-making day became a yearly event with the help of her enthusiastic family. Amalia and Bill's Halloween parties for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were legendary. Amalia’s elaborate birthday cakes were the highlight of every grandchild’s birthday party.
She enjoyed her bowling leagues and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Throughout her life, she gave her time to support her immediate neighbors, larger communities, and St Augustine and Immaculate Conception parishes.
Her family would like to thank the Staff at Seasons Assisted Living for the support and joy they brought to Amalia during the last year of her life.
