85, of Seminole, FL and formerly of Coventry passed away on January 13, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Joan (MacDonald) Richmond. His first wife was the late Margaret (Carbone) Richmond. He was born in Grandin, Missouri, son of the late Eugene and Lillian (Huling) Richmond. He was a retired Sgt. Major USMC. A veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, he earned a Silver Star on Tarawa in 1943. He was a retired police officer in Providence and later became Chief of the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Police Department in Seminole. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole, The American Legion Post 252, The Knights of Columbus, The Marine Corps League and the Fraternal Order of Police. Beside his wife he is survived by his children; Alvin Jr. ( Cathy) of Wellsville, NY, Eugene ( Ann Marie ) of Cranston, Neil ( Brenda ) of Naples, FL, Beth ( Capt. Karl ) VanDeusen of Spotsylvania, VA; Evan (Robin) of Winter Haven, FL.,11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. His brothers, Norman and Harlon in Missouri, Floyd in Montana and his sister Doris Schmaltz in Missouri. He was the brother of the late Lester Richmond and Goldie Waggoner. The funeral, with military honors, was held at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bay Pines, Seminole, FL. A Memorial Mass will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 9:30am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston.
