Almerinda (Orsini) Cirillo

Almerinda Orsini Cirillo passed away after a short struggle with old age on June 24, 2021 at the age of 99.

She was the fourth of five children born in Providence to Amedeo and Maria Orsini.  She graduated from Central High School in Providence and began her bookkeeping career at the Bulova Watch Company.  She left there to care for her two children at age 33.

She was the devoted wife and business partner to the late Michael Cirillo.  She took on matriarch status in the family upon the death of her husband 15 years ago, maintaining the family real estate business until shortly before her death.

Disciplined and health conscious, she enjoyed excellent health during her long and happy lifetime.  She lived by the maxim “You are what you eat.”

Almerinda is survived by her loving children, Joan and Michael.  She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, many of whom benefited from her stable and nurturing presence. Joan’s children include Eliott Levine and Trevor Levine of Boston and Chester Levine of Denver, CO.  Michael’s children include Michael Cirillo, Amanda Cirillo, Nicholas Cirillo and Thomas Cirillo, all of Cranston, RI.  She also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren.  She was affectionately known as Grandma Nina.

Her sister Evelyn was her closest sibling and best friend.  She tirelessly cared for Evelyn during Evelyn’s three year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Evelyn predeceased her by approximately 4 months.

All those who knew Almerinda were touched by her kind and sweet demeanor and her conviction to live an honest and honorable life  She will be missed.

Her visiting hours will be held on Wednesday 4-7 pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston .  Funeral procession from the funeral home will be held Thursday at  9 am, followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Entombment will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Mausoleum.
