Alice (McCrudden) Konis 78, of Cranston, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on September 2nd after a long battle with arthritis and dementia. Alice was born on June 2, 1945 the second of four children to Charles and Marjorie McCrudden (Pike) in Providence.
After graduating from St. Teresa’s High School in Providence in 1963 she was a Telephone Operator for the New England Telephone Company. She then spent the majority of her working life at the Rhode Island College Donovan Dining Center and Henry Barnard School Cafeteria for 25 years as well as being the union council secretary for AFSCME RI Council 94.
She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Robert Konis Sr for 29 years after having met as neighbors. She was a great mother to her two children Sheila Konis of Bristol and Robert Konis Jr of Cranston and the doting Nana of Johnathan Feeny of Johnston.
After retiring in 2005 she enjoyed spending time making her famous Banana Bread and her delicious pizza. She also loved making wreaths, knitting baby blankets, arranging flowers and being a social butterfly. She loved Summer trips to Virginia with family and Fall weekend trips with her husband to New Hampshire.
Alice is survived by her two children, grandson, son in law Dana Medeiros, brother Charles McCrudden Jr and sister Mary Black. She was also the sister of the late Barbara Grossi. Alice was a friend to many and will be desperately missed. She was one of a kind and loved by all.
Her visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-8 pm in the Nardolillo Funeral Home 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 10am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Assumption Church. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
Alice requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to her favorite charity: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
