71, of Mapleville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Mary (McGwin) Leach for 35 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alfred F. and Eleanor (Keegan) Leach.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving sons Sean Leach and his wife Heather, and Brendan Leach; cherished grandson Keegan Leach; brothers Dr. Richard Leach and his wife Joanne, and David Leach and his wife Dottie; nieces Sarah, Chelsea, Jordan, Katherine, and Shana; nephews Mark, Joshua, David, and Jason.
Al attended Our Lady of Providence Preparatory High School and Catholic University in Washington, DC. He was employed by the State of R.I. Department of Corrections as a Deputy Warden for 26 years retiring in 2013. He was a member of the Crystal Lake Golf Club and was an avid and lifelong golfer. Al loved to spend summers vacationing at his cottage on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. He enjoyed traveling which included recent group trips with family and friends to Europe and most especially his visits to Ireland. Al was a true gentleman, soft spoken, compassionate and kind to all.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. VISITING HOURS will be Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m.
