Alfred K. Hanson, Jr., PhD

Professor Alfred K. Hanson, Jr., 69, of Jamestown passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Born in Danbury, CT, he was a son of the late Alfred K., Sr. and Betty Ann (Deuschle) Hanson.

Mr. Hanson received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Hartford, a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from UCONN and his Doctorate Degree in Chemical Oceanography from URI.

He was a Marine Scientist for URI Graduate School of Oceanography for thirty-five years.  He was the President and CEO of Sub Chem Sensor Systems, Inc. for twenty-five years.  He was a member of the American Geo-Physical Union.

Al was the devoted father of Nicholas J. Hanson of Jamestown; they had an amazing father-son bond that was seen and heard by many through there daring business ventures together.

He was also the brother of Susan L. Hanson of Jensen Beach, FL and Jeffrey L. Hanson of Sugar Loaf Key, FL; and former husband and friend of Eleanor Hanson.

A Celebration of His Life will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:30am in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett.  Visitation Saturday from 10:00-11:30am.
