Alfred A. Fortes, Jr., 70, of East Greenwich, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Bianco) Fortes. Born in Providence, he was the son of Mabel (Duarte) Fortes of Coventry and the late Alfred A. Fortes, Sr.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his loving children, Michael A. Fortes of California and Jonathan A. Fortes of Argentina; his daughter-in-law, Mariana Fernandez of Argentina; and his siblings, Carole Lloyd of England, Roberta Bans of North Providence, Gerald “Duke” Fortes of Florida, Cynthia Resch of East Greenwich, and Timothy Fortes of Illinois.
Mr. Fortes was a jewelry model maker for many years, having last worked for Swarovski North America Limited. He was self-employed following his departure from Swarovski before retiring to spend time with family and friends. For most of his life he also enjoyed creating oil paintings for himself, his family, and occasionally to sell. Above all, he was a loyal and passionate husband, father, son, family member and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Saturday morning 9-10 a.m.
