Alfred Paul Charpentier, longtime resident of Cranston RI, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2022 at the age of 92, at his son's family's residence in North Attleboro, Mass. Al was born in Pawtucket and was the son of the late Alfred and Cecile Charpentier. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie Charpentier whom he was happily married to for 49 years. Al was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Navy as a Helmsman on the USS Bennington. During his service Al was injured during the USS Bennington explosion on May 26, 1954. After serving in the Navy Al started his career as a US Postal Carrier and later opened up his own Building Company working alongside his son in the Construction business until his retirement in 2002. Al enjoyed his retirement by visiting Cape Cod and volunteering at the Cranston Senior Center coordinating Bingo and the Senior Olympics. Al was a devoted father to his only son Al and his wife Michelle of North Attleboro. Al could be found most Saturdays helping out on various construction projects or visiting his grandchildren. Poppy as his grandchildren affectionately referred to was always smiling or laughing and just happy to be with his family. Poppy was a Cherished Grandfather to Andrew and his wife Annie, Jennifer and her fiance Pete Hotz, Jasmine, Jalynn, Jeremy, Jessica, and Summer Charpentier. In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be made in the honor of Al’s name to American Parkinson Disease Association, 85 East Concord Street, Ground Floor, Boston, MA 02118.
At the request of the family there will be no funeral home services.
