86, of Providence, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at home. He was the husband of Marie (DiFruscio) Campopiano. They were married for twenty-nine years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Filomena (Gerimia) Campopiano. Mr. Campopiano was a Bridge Engineer for the State of Rhode Island for thirty years before his retirement. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II. Alfred was a member of the Sons of Italy, Providence and was an avid woodworker. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Donna M. Mercurio of Cranston and Roseann Lawton of Providence. He was the grandfather of six and the great-grandfather of ten. Alfred was the brother of Ida Mickle of Sebastian, FL, Anne Raia of Cranston and the late Mary, Joseph and Louis Campopiano, Carmella Andreozzi and Lillian Cifelli. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St Bartholomew's Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
